Algama Mountain, which is around 100 metres high, is located near the Algama hamlet in the Kurunegala district. The remnants of an old Aramaic complex are dispersed across the top of this hill, which is currently covered in forest. According to research, the Anuradhapura era of Sri Lankan history corresponds to this Araramic complex. On the southern slope of the mountain, structures from the same era, including the ruins of a damaged stupa, have been found.

On this peak, two Buddhist temples that date back thousands of years have been erected.

Algama Kande Viharaya, also known as Sri Shailabimbaramaya, is located on the southern slope. Bikkuni Aramaya for today. Algama Sri Sangharaja Viharaya, which dates back to the Kandyan era and has a written history of nearly 300 years, is located on the eastern slopes.
