This Kovil (Hindu temple) situated close to Maniyangama Rajamaha Vihara has located on the Sitawake Palace Avissawella-Dehiowita road 2 km from Avissawella.

The building's architectural features depict a happy blending of Hindu architecture with those of the local traditions. King Rajasinghe I was instrumental in getting this Kovil erected after becoming a convert to the Hindu faith.

The kovil is of rectangular appearance. A canal paved with stone connects the Kovil to the Sitawake river. The kovil site contains three levels. The uppermost level had accommodated the kovil. Some remains of stone pillars are to be seen in this level. Stone sculptures include patterns of lotus, half-completed moonstones and Stone made doorways. In place of ornate carvings found in South Indian Hindu temples, smooth architectural carvings have been used, showing the blending of the South Indian tradition with those of the local. This shrine was designed under the guidance of the famous Hindu priest, Arittakivendu Perumal, credited with converting the king to Hinduism.
