Biso-Mialigawa

To the east of the museum of the Temple of the Tooth, on the Clevateg land, there is an ancient building with a low roof Situated to the West of the Kandy High Court. The windows of the building are very small. This was used as the harem of the Kings. It is now being used as an office by the Department of Archaeology.

The section of this building called Medawdhala had been used by the relations of the queens. The National Museum of Kandy is housed there. Several stone-made lion figures brought from the Gampola Palace have been deposited in front of the building. A bronze figure of British Governor Henry Ward which once stood at the city centre on Ward Street is also kept in the premises.
