Bomburu Ella Falls - Welimada

The beautiful Bomburu Ella (also known as Perawella Falls) is a collection of about ten little-known jungle waterfalls, situated between 1500 and 2000m above sea level in the Sita Eliya Kandapola Forest Reserve. They are served by the upper segment of the principal tributary of the Uma River, known as the Doolgala River. The fall is in both the Nuwara Eliya and districts, Uva Paranagama Divisional Secretariat the Perawella GS area, approximately 15 km from Welimada town. From the Welimada Pussellaw road, win off at Ambagasdova junction and follow the Perawella bus route. The route then ascends and becomes a slightly unsafe looking winding track, with rugged boulders and jungle to negotiate, before The fall is reached. The primary income of the villagers living around Bomburu waterfall is potato and vegetable cultivation which is a very scenic sight to see. Bomburu Ella is the widest waterfall in Sri Lanka and consists of several small waterfalls grouped.
