The Ambalama (Sinhala: අම්බලම) is a simple structure that was designed to provide shelter for passing travellers. There were no charges for using the premises of the Ambalama as it was made, as an offering of goodwill (Pinkama).

About 6 km along the Peradeniya - Gampola road, you will come across the Gelioya area. From Gelioya town, take the Bowelikada road for about 3.5 km and reach Daskara village. Towards the left-hand side of Daskara village, the road to Wegiriya Vegirikanda Rajamaha Viharaya and the ancient Natha Devalaya is marked. This Ambalama can be seen in connection with the old Bo tree at Galkona at 850 meters from this road.
