Ampitiya

This historic Bo-tree is located a few metres away from the Sth kilometre post on the Kandy Talatuoya highway. This Bo-tree has been so named as it has served as the venue recommended for swearing as a requirement after trials of suspects during the Kandyan period. Minister Déva Patiraja, who served King Parakramabahu II of Dambadeniya, has visited this place to make a vow. Relying on this folk tradition, the Bo-tree is assigned to a period dating back to the Dambadeniya era. The four branches of the B6 tree spread in 4 directions.

There is a stone pillar measuring 1.23 metres (4 ft.) with the engravings of sun and moon. All swearing had been done from the stone platform close to the Bo-tree.
