Kuragala Rajamaha Vihara can be reached by travelling along the Hemmatagama road, which commences at Aranayake-Dippitiya road, proceeding 5 km up to Talgaspitiya and a further distance of 1km on a bypass road commencing from there.

This was a cave temple that hitherto had been forgotten till it was rediscovered in 1900. In the face of several calamities that had occurred in the past, the statues and paintings in the cave temple had been subjected to neglect and decay. A golden Buddha image believed to be a sculpture of the Anuradhapura period had been discovered during archaeological excavations. The restored Vihara is a prominent shrine accommodated in the cave with recently constructed statues and new paintings. Another cave opposite the Vihara exists in the original form. An ancient pond used by the monks previously is located close to this cave.
