Not far from Point Pedro in Vivaparimalai, an archaeological exploration was conducted in 2001 by a group of explorers and professors from the Department of History and Archaeology of the Jaffna University headed by Sellaiah Krishnaraja. The hoard of stone implements collected from the exploration was deposited in the university premises. During the exploration conducted at the Kandarodai site in 2011 by the team of explorers under the supervision of senior archaeologists, Siran Deraniyagala, Senarath Dissanayaka, Nimal Perera from the Archaeological Department with the participation of the academic staff of the University of Jaffna
