Mulgirigama Raja Maha Vihara – Mullegama

The Mulgirigama Raja Maha Vihara is situated at Mullegama in Marumgoda Grama Niladhari Division of Navgaththegama Divisional Secretariat in the Puttalam District.

Folklore attributes it to King Dappula, who reigned in the late Anuradhapura period as the king who built it. The Dagoba in the temple premises may have been subjected to renovation. The building presently being used as the residence of the monks in this monastic complex consisting of a cluster of caves and inscriptions had been constructed about 300 years ago and had undergone renovation during the later stage of its existence.
