Pasgama Devale

This devala is situated in the village of Héwavissa within Pata Hewaheta. It can be reached by travelling along Kandy-Talatuoya road, leading to Hanguranketa and turning to the right before reaching Marassana and travelling along Héwavissa road.

Although this place has gained prominence at present, due to the dévala dedicated to deity Natha, the Vihara at Pasgama was more prominent in the past. The B6-tree at the site is considered a sapling of a Bo-tree from Anuradhapura. King Gajabahu I is considered the original benefactor who had erected the Vihara and offered land to it. Later, King Wickramabdahu III of Gampola has erected a dévdla for the deity Natha in the Vihara premises to the east. The statue is said to have been brought to the Vihara from Dumbara. An annual pageant is held in honour of the deity Natha. People in the area believe that they get a bountiful harvest as a result of invoking this deity.
