Uda Aludeniya-vihara at Rambawa

The Wooden doorway

A timber door frame of the Uda Aludeniya-vihara is considered to be an unusually beautiful wooden carving. This Vihara is located a short distance along the road commencing at Weligala bazaar, linked to the Kandy - Gampola road. A door frame is an antique object richly carved with dancing figure motifs that had influenced the formation of the word Rambiwa. It had been removed from the original place and is presently kept in the Visnu devala. An inscription belonging to the 18th century and the small dagaba of the same period are found in the dévdla.
