The Ambalama (Sinhala: අම්බලම) is a simple structure that was designed to provide shelter for passing travellers. There were no charges for using the premises of the Ambalama as it was made, as an offering of goodwill (Pinkama).

The Village of Bothale just Just two miles from the Danowita junction on the Colombo-Kandy highway lies this beautiful Ambalama In the middle of lush green paddy fields. apparently, it was renovated In 2013 as the roof had collapsed. the villagers also refer to it as Welamada Ambalama When I visited this place I had to park the vehicle near a small village cemetery. The Medabawita road is narrow. Then walked about 400 meters through paddy fields, across the Niyara of the paddy fields to reach the Ambalama.
