Uruwala Valagamba Raja Maha Vihara
උරුවල වලගම්බා රාජා මහා විහාර
This Vihara is an ancient Buddhist temple in Uruwala, Sri Lanka. The temple is located on Wathurugama road and approximately 4.71 km (2.93 mi) away from Miriswatta junction. The temple has been formally recognised by the Government as an archaeological site Gazette Notification published on 8 July 2005. The history of the Uruwala Valagamba Raja Maha Vihara goes back to the era of King Valagamba (103 B.C and 89-77 B. C) The Poya Geya (chapter house), drip ledged caves, the ancient Bodhi tree and its ramparts are archaeological protected monuments.
