The rock is polished flat where Mahinda slept. Two and a quarter metres, which was enough.

THE PLACE
The only cave above the Naga pond, and the one Mahinda is said to have lived in. A section of the floor has been polished smooth for a body to lie on — about two metres by one — and one end sits higher than the other. A stone pillow.
It has no drip ledge, which is unusual here, and it opens on two sides to a view.
The man who changed the religion of this island slept on a rock two metres long, with the weather coming in from two directions and something worth looking at in the morning.
