ආරාධනා ගල

Located on the Anuradhapura – Trincomalee road, Aradhana Gala is the highest point of Mihnitale. According to legend, this is where Arahant Mahinda Thero stood for the first time to address King Devanampiyatissa. 'Mihin-tale' literary means, 'the plateau of Mahinda,' and 'Aradhana-gala' translates as 'the invitation rock', referring to the Thero's invitation to the King to a discussion. The two had a deep conversation, which set the wheels in motion to establish Buddhism in Sri Lanka. And, today, pilgrims flock (even on windy days) to the summit of the plateau to revisit a sight they hold in reverence. There is an iron railing in place to help visitors climb to the top of Aradhana Gala. The view from the summit is splendid and well worth the climb.
