Ambanwala Kande Devalaya Ambalama

Ambanwala Kande Devalaya Ambalama stands at the entrance to the devalaya grounds. The square pavilion has low walls on all four sides, an opening for entry and seating ledges set at differing heights. Above it is a broad double-slope roof covered with traditional flat clay tiles. Stories about the origins of the nearby devalaya belong to local tradition; the ambalama itself is best appreciated as a surviving example of a practical Kandyan wayside shelter.
