Ceylon Tea Museum

The Ceylon Tea Museum occupies the former Hanthana Tea Factory, a multi-storey industrial building constructed in 1925. The ground floor retains machinery that helps explain how tea was processed, while the upper levels contain historical exhibits, a library and spaces devoted to the people and equipment behind the industry. Hanthana is a fitting location: the Kandy district played an important part in the early development of commercial tea after coffee cultivation declined. The building itself, with its broad floors and repeated windows, remains part of the museum experience.
