THE PLACE
Gallengolla Pothgul Rajamaha Viharaya is a Buddhist temple at Urulewatta, reached from the Pilimathalawa–Paranapattiya side. It is listed as a protected archaeological monument, with a documented phase of development in the nineteenth century.
It has not become an unattended ruin. It remains in use as a place of worship.

The final village roads are narrow. Ask the clergy before photographing interiors or protected objects, remove footwear where required and leave offerings and religious items undisturbed.
