THE PLACE
Image house at Welipillewa Purana Viharaya is the main attraction of this temple with archaeological importance. The walls, as well as the ceiling, has been painted with the murals depicting Buddhist themes, and Jathaka Stories. The earliest paintings were belonging to the Kandyan tradition.
The Vihara was declared a protected site by the archaeological department in 22nd November 2002. The Vihara is situated in Gampaha district. GPS Coordinates are listed, please use it to get to the location.
