THE PLACE

Kadugannawa Ambalama stands on the difficult old ascent to the Kandyan capital. Tradition associates it with the reign of King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe, when merchants and other travellers needed resting places along the mountain road. Its open masonry form and seating offered shelter during the climb.
