Kandekumbura Ambalama

Kandekumbura Ambalama is a brick-and-mortar wayside shelter about nine kilometers from Katugastota on the road to Kurunegala, built on a foundation roughly ten feet square with a small entrance porch. Ambalamas like this one were built at points along major routes across the island, for travelers to rest. A local record dates this one to 1 March 1938 and names its builder as Galpatigedhara Kiripuncha.

The roof and surrounding structure have deteriorated, and weeds now cover the site.
