THE PLACE

Kotugodella Rajamaha Viharaya is a Buddhist temple in the centre of Kandy. Tradition links the present temple with a shrine lost when King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe created Kandy Lake from the former Tigolwela fields, after which a replacement was established on land associated with Kotugodella Adikaram. It remains a living place of worship.
