Marassana Dehalkada Ambalama

At Dehalkada Junction on the Haragama–Marassana road, about 24 kilometres from Kandy, stands a wayside shelter built from kabook stone and mortar. Its walls rise to meet at four corners, a heavier and more enclosed form than the open timber ambalamas common elsewhere in the district. Three additional piers, set along the middle of the two side walls and the rear wall, help carry the roof, while benches run along the front and back for travellers to sit. The roof is now covered in galvanized sheeting; what covered it originally is not recorded.

No date, builder, or founding event survives for this ambalama. What is recorded is its present state: the walls are crumbling, plaster has peeled away in places, and vegetation has begun to overtake the structure.
