THE PLACE
Ganegoda Devalaya at Megoda Kalugamuwa is remembered in village tradition for a vow made by King Rajasinghe II before the Battle of Gannoruwa. The story holds that the king came here to make his vow, and that after the victory he returned support to the shrine. This connection should be understood as temple tradition unless supported by further documentary evidence.
The devalaya remains a living place of worship in the village today, with the vow-and-victory story carried forward as part of its tradition.
