THE PLACE
Nugapitiya Ambalama is a village wayside shelter in the Nugapitiya area north of Kandy. Published information about its construction and current condition is limited, and its architectural age should not be assumed without an on-site inspection.
Its interest lies less in the structure itself than in what it represents: the region's old tradition of wayside rest for travellers.
