Palace of Senarath at Medamahanuwara

On the mountain above Medamahanuwara are remains described as an old fortified refuge or palace. Local and published tradition links the place with King Senarath, who ruled the Kandyan kingdom in the early seventeenth century, but the precise date and purpose of every surviving feature are not firmly established. The remote terrain is as important to the experience as the ruins.
