Site of Palle Deegala Ambalama

Palle Deegala Ambalama served travellers using the old road through the Akurana area of Kandy District, near Deegala. The structure collapsed on 18 November 2020, after a long period of deterioration.

What remains at the site, then, is not a surviving building but its absence. No date of construction, no patron, and no architectural record have surfaced for this ambalama — only the fact and date of its fall. Any fabric or reconstruction found on site today should be judged as it stands, not assumed from older photographs.
