THE PLACE
Elikewala Ambalama is a small timber wayside rest in Pathahewaheta. Four lower beams sit on stone blocks; four upright posts carry an upper frame and a compact tiled roof.
The carved pillars are heavily weathered, leaving only traces of their original detail. What survives is the shelter's structural logic, plainer to see for the wear.
