THE PLACE
Peradeniya station opened in 1867, when the line reached Kandy. In 1873 a route toward Gampola was added and the stop became a junction. The old station building survives, with deep eaves and a platform veranda typical of that first phase of railway building into the central highlands. Peradeniya Junction is still part of the working rail network today.
