Sooriyagoda Ilukthenna Ambalama

Ilukthenna Ambalama stands close to the road leading towards Sooriyagoda Rajamaha Viharaya. The roughly square shelter is built from brick and mortar, with low walls joining four corner pillars beneath a hipped roof of Calicut clay tiles. A small projecting hood marks the entrance and is supported by two additional pillars. A date recorded on a stone pillar is expressed in the Buddhist Era, but its exact interpretation is best left to specialist study.
