THE PLACE
Sudugala Ella falls near Nawalapitiya, spreading across a broad, sloping rock bed rather than dropping in a single narrow column. The water slides over the wide stone surface before reaching a shallow pool at the bottom.
Locally the falls also go by two other names, Heightenford Falls and Galpoththa Ella. Flow and safe viewing conditions vary greatly with rainfall.

Do not assume the shallow-looking rock is safe for bathing or sliding. Avoid high water, keep away from the lip and use footwear with good grip.
