Thalagune Ella Waterfall

Thalagune Ella, also called Kalugala Hulan Ella, falls beside the road between Udadumbara and Kalugala in Kandy District, near the village of Thalagune. It is about 80 metres high and comes into view from the Uda Dumbara–Kalugala road after roughly 3.5 km of travel past paddy fields; the long, narrow drop is clearest when seasonal flow is strong. It can be reached from Kandy via Digana, Hunnasgiriya and Uda Dumbara (about 55 km, 1.5 hours), or from Mahiyanganaya via Hasalaka and Uda Dumbara (about 32 km, 45 minutes).

About 500 metres upstream, hidden from the road, is a second fall known as Gedaramada Ella, also called locally Ellegala Ella. Beyond its height and setting, the waterfall does not appear in major references such as the LCWF database or Wikipedia's list of Sri Lankan waterfalls.
