THE PLACE
Udunuwara Pitawala Ambalama, also known as Pallepitawala Ambalama, is a traditional wayside rest built around a carefully joined timber frame. Large horizontal beams lock together with mortise-and-tenon joints to carry the roof above the resting space.
Its value lies as much in this practical carpentry as in the shelter's simple village form.
